Pulau Kapas - Island Perfection - Pulau Kapas, Malaysia Travel Blog Posted: 17 Apr 2011 12:00 AM PDT We headed to the northern part of the island to do a spot of snorkelling, amazing coral reefs, lots of fish and even spotted a black tip reef shark which circled us then left. After spending the day on what felt like a desert island we ventured back to our bungalow to eat some delicious Malay food. The next day we went to the southern part of the island via the lighthouse (a rickety metal ladder with a platform and light at the top), we got some amazing views of the isolated bays from the top . We got chatting to a Canadian couple about Perhentians which is our next destination and got some info. A guy called Zar who worked at the guesthouse taught us some card tricks and before we called it a night he gave me a present. It was a beautiful hand filed shell necklace which he had fished out of the sea and made for me earlier on. It is beautiful - and it's these little touches where going off the beaten track makes memorable and lasting memories and shows the kindness of the locals when they are not driven by making money and business with foreign tourists.Next stop - Perhentian Kecil. Best Wishes, Heather and James |
