Ross: Welcome to KT! I'll answer your questions as you asked them:

1) The taxi prices are pretty much set and non-negotiable. If I remember correctly, the taxi from KT Airport to Marang should be maybe 35 – 40 ringgit. I'm not quite sure, but whatever you see on the piece of paper by the taxi stand is what you'll be paying. I live here and they never negotiate.

2) On your return, there should be a few taxis waiting around. Or, you can ask the ferry people to have one waiting for you.

3) I think it should be around 40 ringgit. It used to be 35, but we just recently had a gas hike in Malaysia, so it's a little more.

4) Suria is more expensive, but if you have enough people, they'll come when you want them to. MGH is cheaper, but they run boats every few hours or so.

5) We're coming into rainy season here. In fact, a lot of places will be closed by the end of October. That should affect things a little bit, but there might be some good snorkeling still. Try the stretch beach to the left of the jetty (facing the direction as you come in).
