It is conveniently located only 6 kilometres away from Marang town. It is only 18 km south of Kuala Terengganu City. Speedboats are available at Marang Jetty and it takes only 10 minutes to the island. Boat transfer service may start as early as 7.00 am and costs RM35.00 per person return. Pulau Kapas is indeed an ideal family retreat. Resorts and budget chalets dotted the beachfront providing facilities for visitors. Swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving in crystal clear waters are recommended or indulge in fishing, squid fishing, jungle trekking and canoeing. Or some would prefer lazing on the beach, letting the time goes by, lulled by the soft and whispering winds, doing practically nothing. How To Get Here There are regular and daily bus services from most of the major cities and towns within Peninsular Malaysia. The nearest destination is Kuala Terengganu. Journey normally takes 5-6 hours from Kuala Lumpur. There are daily local bus service to Marang town. Taking a taxi or renting a car would be more convenient. There are boat operators and travel agents at Marang jetty that provides boat and tour packages to either Pulau Kapas or Pulau Gemia. By Air There are daily and regular flights to the nearest destination of Kuala Terengganu. Malaysian Airlines, Air Asia and Firefly ply direct routes either from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. There are taxi and car rental services at the Kuala Terengganu Airport. Journey takes half an hour to Marang Jetty. By car The drive from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu takes about 5-6 hours. Take the Karak Highway to get to Kuantan. From there, follow the sign board to Kuala Terengganu. Marang is 18 km before Kuala Terengganu. Departing early in the morning should be convenient as one reaches Marang around noon. The boat services starts as early as 8.00 am and last boat usually by 5.00 pm but it depends upon the weather condition. It is advisable to catch the early morning boat. There are few hotels and resorts around Marang town should one wish to spend a night or two in Marang town. A day trip to the island could be arranged as well.
